Office of the Clerk/Treasurer

Duties of the Clerk-Treasurer's Office

  • The fiscal officer is the head of the town's department of finance. The fiscal officer shall:

    • Receive and care for all the town's money and pay the money out only on the order of the approving body.

    • Keep accounts showing when and from what sources the fiscal officer has received town money and when and to whom the fiscal officer has paid out town money.

    • Prescribe payroll and account forms for all town offices.

    • Prescribe how creditors, officers, and employees shall be paid.

    • Manage the finances and accounts of the town and make investments of town money.

    • Prepare for the legislative body the budget estimates of miscellaneous revenue, financial statements, and proposed tax rate.

  • Serve as clerk of the board of public works by attending meetings, preparing agendas, and recording proceedings.

  • Utility Billing and Collection.
