Duties of the Clerk-Treasurer's Office

The fiscal officer is the head of the town's department of finance. The fiscal officer shall:

Receive and care for all the town's money and pay the money out only on the order of the approving body.

Keep accounts showing when and from what sources the fiscal officer has received town money and when and to whom the fiscal officer has paid out town money.

Prescribe payroll and account forms for all town offices.

Prescribe how creditors, officers, and employees shall be paid.

Manage the finances and accounts of the town and make investments of town money.

Prepare for the legislative body the budget estimates of miscellaneous revenue, financial statements, and proposed tax rate.

Serve as clerk of the board of public works by attending meetings, preparing agendas, and recording proceedings.
